How to Make Southern Potato Salad

Do you remember that tasty potato salad your mama used to make and want to make some of your own? Or maybe you just want a bite of that southern potato goodness! Southern potato salad has been enjoyed for generations, and you can bring it to your dinner table!

Ingredients

  • 4 large Potatoes (recommended: red potatoes)
  • Water
  • A few pinches of salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1/2 stalk of celery
  • 1/4 cup Relish
  • 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup of mayonnaise
  • Parsley (optional)
  • Chives (optional)
  • Salt (optional)
  • Pepper (optional)

STEPS

    Peel the potatoes and cut them into quarters. This will help them cook faster.
  2. 2
    Put the potatoes in the pot and pour enough cold water so that the potatoes are covered. Add one or two pinches of salt.

    Bring the water to a boil, then lower the heat to medium high. Cook the potatoes for no more than 15 minutes, you want your potatoes to be tender.

    While the potatoes are in the pot, place the eggs in a saucepan. Cover them in cold water, bill the water, and then cover the saucepan.

    Remove the eggs from the heat and let them sit for 10 minutes.

    Drain the potatoes and chop them into large pieces measuring about 1 inch per 1 inch

    Remove the eggs from the hot water, and cool them in cold water. After about 3 minutes peel and chop them.

    Set the eggs aside and chop half a stalk of celery into small pieces and mince the clove of garlic.

    Add the potatoes, eggs, relish, mustard, mayonnaise, celery, and garlic into a large bowl and mix it all together.

    Add the optional ingredients to garnish the salad.
